Zero Emission Design

ZED (Zero Emission Design) Motors envisions a carbon neutral and prosperous world and aims to eliminate transportation-related GHG emissions in African cities while creating economic empowerment.

ZED is a social enterprise with the dual objective of improving livelihoods in African communities and mitigating climate change by preventing carbon emissions generated by petrol-powered motorcycles. By enabling the transition from petrol-powered motorcycles to electric motorcycles in Africa, ZED aims to increase the net earnings of motorcycle taxi and delivery service riders and significantly lower the carbon footprint of the transportation sector.

ZED MISSION

Lead Africa’s transition to clean mobility.

ZED aims to achieve this by assembling and deploying electric motorcycles and offering battery-as-a-service via a network of battery swapping stations (ABDs) to promote clean energy access and provide sustainable and profitable employment opportunities for gig economy workers engaging in taxi and delivery services.

ZED is led by Co-Founders, Olou Koucoi and Kristin Strong, who oversee a management team that brings extensive experience and complimentary expertise in engineering, electric vehicle operations, solar energy systems, strategic planning, and financial management.
